This one is near and dear to my heart:
How British vegetarians have become unwitting consumers of GM food
I’ve discovered that the Independent website only hosts free articles for 1 week. After that you have to pay to read them. So, you’ve got until this Sunday.
Posted by Scott Mcdowell at July 14, 2003 09:32 AMthanks scott- it's nice to have a fan.
on a sidenote- while i researching this i found out that almost all american companies that make "vegi food" (ie tofu hot dogs and the hundreds of vegi burgers) use GM soya in them. the thing is- becuase of a loophole in policy, many of the products labelled "organic" end up having GM as well. (a lot of the soya foods are processed with a GM enzyme that doesn't have to get labelled)
either way- maybe people are ok eating GM. but if not, the best thing to do is to call the company and talk to them and find out what they have to say about their products. it's surprising how honest they'll be -or maybe its just fear of lawsuits.
Posted by: sheera at July 16, 2003 04:29 AMI keep finding more and more things that make me lean away from the soy bean.
I'll stick with (non-soy) beans and rice, grown sustainably.
