Californians, it’s almost time to vote
FYI: if you’re not going to be able to make it to a voting booth on Tuesday, March 2nd (that’s 15 days before my birthday), then you’ll have to get an absentee application sent and recieved by 5:00pm on the 24th. That’s just that’s 5 days away. To be safe, you’ll probably want to get it in the mail tomorrow.
Besides the primaries, there are 4 propositions that will be on the ballot, including Prop 57 (Arnold’s state deficit plan).
Think about it.

Becky…err, Rebecca’s new Spectorial
Becky’s got a brand new spectorial. You might be wondering how she took photos that look just like the bay area, when she’s living in London…well that’s a secret, and I’m not telling.
In case you’re wondering what happened to the last spectorial, it’s still available right here. I just haven’t figured out how I’m going to fit it into her website yet.

Message to all Internet Explorer users: Switch to Firefox!
I realize that most of my friends use MacOS X, and therefore surf this site with Safari. That’s cool, you guys are off the hook. Still, when I view the stats, more than half of the hits are from MSIE/Win. So here’s my message to all Internet Explorer users, “It’s time to switch.”
Mozilla Firefox (which used to be called Firebird) is a much better way to view the web than IE. It’s got popup blocking, it’s got a download manager, it’s got tabbed browsing, it’s got a built-in google search bar. All this and more. To top if off, Microsoft has announced they won’t be updating Internet explorer until the next version of windows (about two years). That’s an insanely long time!
So what are you waiting for?

Have your “solar cake and eat it too”
That’s an actual quote from this article. It’s a nice read though. I’m still pretty amazed that my parents went solar.

A Studio in my Studio

So here’s the second picture from my new apartment. This is my “project studio.” I don’t have a name for it just yet (any suggestions?). The walls are still empty because I’m planning on hanging all my gold records up…once they arrive.
The coolest thing to notice is that dreamy rack I’ve got sitting under my record player. I really didn’t want the standard, ugly SKB rack. If I’m living in the same room, I decided, it’s gotta be wood! I almost went ahead and built one myself, which (considering my experience building things) probably would have turned out pretty crappy. Then I found this website called Nice Racks. The guy who builds them was extremely helpful and answered all my questions right away. I’m glad it’s not as shiny as the pictures on his website.
Okay, back to homework.

Tips on getting Mail.app to work with SquirrelMail
When I’m on my laptop, I use Apple’s wonderful Mail program (often called Mail.app). When I’m not at my laptop, I use the equally wonderful SquirrelMail to access my email from a web browser. Since I use an IMAP server, they both share the same the INBOX (it’s synchronized). If you use both of these programs, or any other IMAP program, you probably already knew this.
When you use SquirrelMail, it creates mailboxes in your IMAP account called Sent, Drafts, and Trash. Here’s how to set Mail to use those same folders :
- In the Mailboxes sidepanel, select the mailbox you want to use (we’ll start with Trash). Make sure you select the mailbox with the ‘folder’ icon (see my red arrows) and not the giant ‘trash bin.’

- Once Trash is highlighted, go to the menu bar and pull down Mailboxes
- Select Use This Mailbox for->Trash What you should notice is that the Trash mailbox has disappeared. It’s not really gone, now you access by clicking on the other Trash (that has the giant ‘trash bin’.)
Now repeat the process for Sent and Drafts. It’s that easy! And you can use this process for any other IMAP client, like SilkyMail.
Why? If you set Mail.app to use these same folders, then you can access your Drafts or Sent mail from either program. This means that you can start writing a message in Mail.app, save it as a draft, and later find the same message in the Drafts folder for SquirrelMail.

If you’re in the San Francisco area, and you need a facial…
…then you’ve gotta check out Studio C Skincare. I’m finally mentioning this on my website, so it’s “official.” I built this for Becky’s friend Cheryl. I like the pretty logo, but I did not design that (you should see her business cards!) Mike, you’re next, along with random parts of this and Becky’s next spectorial.
